Averaging L-functions over families often reveals structural features that are inaccessible through individual estimates. In this talk, we will explore the general principles for evaluating these averages and survey key developments in the field. Following this, we describe our recent work regarding asymptotic formulas for double moments and related twisted averages for L-functions attached to modular forms.
